Build an exit before you need one
Mark the route back to the surface and avoid turning every mining trip into a maze. Place recognizable blocks or lights at junctions, and keep one route that does not require parkour under pressure.
Use sound as information
Lower background distractions and listen for unusual cave audio. A warning is only useful if you notice it early enough to stop digging into a dead end.
Carry a chase inventory
- Food for immediate sprint recovery.
- Blocks for quick route control.
- Torches or another consistent lighting method.
- A ranged option if your build allows meaningful combat.
- A water bucket or mobility tool appropriate to your version.
Do not assume every build has the same weaknesses
Ports can change movement, aggression and interaction with terrain. A tactic that works in a video may fail in your version. Test behavior in a disposable world before betting a valuable survival save on it.
Play for tension, not perfect optimization
The mod’s appeal is the uncertainty. If you configure every encounter out of existence, the experience becomes another mob pack. Tune frequency to your group’s tolerance rather than maximizing spawns.
